Canine Adult Wellness Package (6yrs And Under)
At SAHO, we recognize that you, as a dog owner, want options for annual wellness care. Below are the annual recommendations from your SAHO veterinarian. It has become a common misconception that vaccinations are the reason for yearly visits to the veterinarian. Vaccinations prevent disease, but there are only a handful of vaccinations available. Annual physical examinations and wellness testing allow for detection of most of the other 99% of problems that we see. This is the KEY to improving your dog’squality and duration of life. By choosing the Canine Adult Wellness Package, you will receive each of the following bundled together at a discounted rate.
Adult Preventative Care Exam
An Adult Preventive Care Examination is recommended yearly for healthy dogs from 1 to 6 years of age. This includes a nose to tail evaluation, a Physical Exam Report Card to take home, and a detailed written treatment plan in the event abnormalities are found
Vaccinations
The vaccinations your dog receives each year are determined by a risk assessment performed by your veterinarian. Depending the year, your dog may get 1 to 4 vaccinations. All vaccinations are included in the Adult Canine Annual Wellness Package. SAHO follows the American Animal Hospital Association vaccine guidelines.
- Rabies 1yr/3yr
- DHPP – Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza 1yr/3yr
- Leptospirosis 1yr
- Bordetella 1yr
- CIV – Canine Influenza Virus 1yr – Can be added on at the discounted price of $32.50
Heartworm Test
The American Heartworm Society recommends yearly heartworm tests for all patients whether on prevention or not. Heartworm prevention is NOT 100% effective at preventing heartworms because of errors in administration, patients not digesting the pill, manufacturing errors and recently revealed resistant strains of heartworms. Heartworm preventative manufacturers will pay for your dog’s heartworm treatment if it is documented that the patient has had heartworm prevention every month and is tested yearly.
Intestinal Parasite Screening
(Centrifuged float) – Intestinal parasites such as Roundworms, Hookworms, Whipworms, Tapeworms, Coccidia and Giardia are some of the parasites that your dog can carry. Not only can these parasites cause disease in your dog, but intestinal worms are also well known causes of larval migrans syndromes in humans, especially children. Therefore, the Companion Animal Parasite Council (CAPC) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends regular de-worming and yearly screening.
Blood and Urine Screening
Dogs don’t like to tell us they’re sick until it’s too late. Simple testing can help with early diagnosis of disease so we can address hidden problems before it is too late. We can also make nutritional and supplemental recommendations based on your dog’s test results that can result in a longer and healthier life. Best of all, if your dog’s screening is normal then we have a baseline to refer back to in the event of illness.
Adult Canine Annual Wellness Package Price: $211.50 (Total Savings of $220.45)
Adult Canine Annual Wellness Package Price with the CIV vaccine: $236.50 (Total Savings of $234.45)
