Sara Hendricks, DVM

Owasso | Veterinarians

Bio:

Hi! My name is Sara Hendricks. I graduated from Oklahoma State University with a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1999. I have been married to my husband Clay for 22 years. We have two children, Kate (19) & Josh (15). Kate graduated from Rejoice Christian School in 2020 and will attend Rogers State University this fall. Josh will be a sophomore at Rejoice this fall. We have three dogs: Rocky (a yellow Labrador Retriever), Ellie (a mix), and Peaches (a Chinese Pug). Peaches was adopted by our family after one of my beloved clients passed away and her family was unable to care for her due to health reasons. We also have four cats: Princess, Pumpkin, Boo & Bella.

I have always felt an intense calling to help animals in need. As a child, I brought home every stray animal that I could find, and the bond I felt with them many times was stronger than the bond I felt with humans. My pets were a constant source of joy, comfort, and unconditional love and they helped me through many difficult times as a child.

I decided to become a veterinarian when I was in college. I grew up in a low-income household so I never even realized veterinarians existed until this time. I was so happy to be able to combine my love for animals and my love for science!! I knew I had discovered my calling in life which was to help animals!

Over the years I have come to realize that my calling in life is not only to help animals, but to help people. It has been such an honor to develop relationships with so many amazing clients who allow me the privilege of caring for their precious furry family members! My goal as a veterinarian is to work together with my clients as a team to determine the best approach to caring for their pets. I find that listening to my clients as they express their desires is an integral part of our relationship. I love my clients as much as I love their pets!! This is what makes me want to go above and beyond to help them and their beloved pets.

My interests in veterinary medicine include internal medicine, preventative medicine, feline medicine, and emergency medicine. I am known around our hospital as the cat doc which I interpret as “she really loves cats” (and I do!) I also really love dogs!!!

In my spare time, I typically spend as much time as possible reading my Bible, praying, and fellowshipping with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I also love spending time with my family (including our beloved pets) and friends. I enjoy traveling – take me to the beach – any beach!!! I love “dad jokes”, sarcasm, and all humor. I find joy in nature and recently have discovered bird-watching! I adore sunsets & sunrises as well as sunny days and rainbows. My favorite scripture is Philippians 4:19. “But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

I am continually growing and learning about all things. My desire is that I can be of service to anyone who needs help, whether it be through caring for their pet, giving them a hug, being a shoulder to cry on or just listening when they need a friend. I am blessed to be in a profession in which love rules. And it does!
